Would Fela Had Protested For Nigerians If He Was Given The Choice Of Having More Time With His Mother?

So Nigerians are still on and about concerning the cancelled February 6th National protest, and they have now decided that Tuface chickened out of his proclaimed protest for selfish reasons. But really, we would still like to point out that he started something, and that should at least be applauded.

But it is appalling that Nigerians are now measuring him up to iconic Fela, saying he should have followed the footsteps of the music legend and still carried on with the protest tomorrow, February 6th.

While we are comparing Tuface to Fela Anikulapo Kuti, let us remember that charity begins at home, so we would have expected the Anikulapos to learn from their great leader, Fela, and carry on from where he stopped, but that has obviously not been happening. We would remember that only last week, Tuface who started the journey, had called on the support of a member of the Anikulapo family, Femi Kuti precisely, but he refused the call, saying;

“I hear say dey want to do protest here, dey even choose the day Sunday, Sunday is my day.

“So I was thinking, 2face say some people come meet am say make he broadcast am, so no be him sit down for him house com plan am, I for no vex.

“Who be the people wey come meet you?”

If we’re talking about Fela’s footsteps, then don’t we think his son should have just jumped on the train? if for nothing, but for the sake of the country his father gave his voice to.

So yes, people are saying Fela was beaten up and his house burnt but he didn’t back down from speaking out for the Nigerian people, and we think Tuface didn’t back down either, he spoke out his mind… the government and every Nigerian  knows how Tuface feels about the present situation of the country… isn’t that supposed to be part of the aim of the protest, to let the government know how we feel?

But while we are so angry at Tuface for not being the hero we imagined him to be, let us stop and ask ourselves this question… “If Fela had one opportunity to save his mother and not protest, what would’ve been his choice? To protest for Nigerians or have more time with his mother?”

Let this conversation continue after you’ve answered the question.
