Would Fela Had Protested For Nigerians If He Had The Choice Of Having More Time With His Mother

The idea of Tuface cancelling or better still cancelling his participation from the National Peaceful Protest scheduled today, February 6th is still looking like a shock to Nigerians as they were not experiencing this kind of ending… obviously doesn’t look like a happily ever after. Nigerians not considering the well-being of Tuface, have already started comparing him to the late iconic music star, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, telling him that he chickened out and disappointed them.

Now let’s talk this following of footstep thing that Nigerians are accusing Tuface about. How about we start with “Charity begins at home” and ask ourselves why the Anikulapos didn’t follow the footsteps of their father and fight for Nigerians since we are looking for a Deus ex Machina to rescue us from the situation we arr in? Well, we’ve obviously waited and they didn’t showing, so what happened next? we kept waiting, even though we didn’t know that what we were doing.

Them came 2Baba, who for whatever motive, went ahead and spoke his mind. You know while we accuse Tuface of backing out, let us try to get one thing straight… Tuface already protested. He protested by making his position known, and his voice urged every other people to speak out. I don’t know what you call protesting, but in English, i think protesting is very synonymous to disagreement, and in everyday possible, we have clearly seen that Tuface has protested, most of us calling him names just haven’t done our own part.

So let’s go back to the Fela’s comparison that we are placing Tuface on… Don’t you think that’s giving Tuface too much responsibility, because we’re trying to place him another man’s shoe who’s pains from Nigeria inspired some of his songs? While no one’s pain is greater, people’s pain should not also be compared. Tuface started the protest, and we would remember that he called on the son of Fela, Femi Kuti, to support him by giving  them African shrine as the venue and what was the response? Let me remind us,

“I hear say dey want to do protest here, they even choose the day Sunday, Sunday is my day.

“So I was thinking, 2face say some people come meet am say make he broadcast am, so no be him sit down for him house com plan am, I for no vex.

“Who be the people wey come meet you?”

Now these were the words of the son of iconic Fela who we see as Nigeria’s leader of protest… these words were least expected, but Nigerians are not carrying the matter like they’re crucifying Tuface right now.

Tuface, before releasing the video of cancellation, was energetic about the protest until he was allegedly harassed by DSS, who a Facebook source confirmed;

Now, if this was what Tuface truly went through, then who would blame his actions? Do we know what he would have been told? Which member of his family would have directly or indirectly been threatened? But then again, while we are bad mouthing Tuface and measuring him up to a shoe that none of us has ever thought to fill, let us as ourselves this question? “If Fela was given a choice to have either have his mother or protest for Nigeria, what would he pick?” or better still, “Can you as a Nigerian forfeit any member of your family for Nigeria?”
