In the early hours of today, Wizkid released his highly-anticipated single Joro. He released the song under RCA records and premiered it on Beats 1 radio with Oldman Ebro. Wizkid drops the song just in time for Independence day.

Wizkid released his first official single of the year, Ghetto Love, in the beginning of September. The song received mixed reactions and that appears to have been the singer’s motivation for releasing the new single Joro. Apparently, it’s the second single from his upcoming album Made In Lagos. The song was produced and co-written with Northboi.

A music video accompanied the song. The video was shot in England and Nigeria by stellar video director, Meji Alabi. From the visuals down to the storytelling, everything was on point. And from the rollout, it appears as if Sony is ready to go all out in the promotion of the song. Later this year, Wizkid will be going on a Starboy Fest tour. He’ll be headlining BBC’s 1Xtra Live Festival on October 5th. Also, he will be the headliner at 1Dance Africa 2019, Australia’s first ever Afrobeats festival, on October 11th in Sydney and October 12th in Melbourne.

Since the release of Joro, there have been different reactions from music lovers on Twitter. Just as expected, there are people who are heaping praises on Wizkid and believe that Joro is the song of the year. For some other people, Wizkid has quite lost the sauce and is simply incapable of making a hit song. Mostly, opinions on music are subjective and no one holds the authority to say if a song is good or not. It’s left for you, as a fan or general music lover, to decide what it is.
