5 Oldies That Make Us Remember Our Favourite Artistes

It’s Thursday! Yes we’re happy because this is that day where we can “unapologetically” go back in time to those dope tracks that are no longer being played in parties, not because they are no longer dope, but because more songs are released everyday! and are they “doper”? well… let’s just say different times require different beats, and right now, we are dancing to the high tempos of IF, Yawa, Mad Over You, rocking Come Closer, Daddy Yo, So far So Good, For Life and the list goes on.. you get the gist?

But today we are going back, not to hit tracks, although they are also hit songs, but to songs that defined your favourite artiste, that song that when you hear you immediately remember them at that time or when you see them, you even remember the song. This is to say that nobody can ask you who sang those songs because at a point, you started calling the artistes by the name of the songs. Guilty as charge! Songs like Baby Konga, Exactly! I’m sure immediately you saw the song you’re like “Where is this guy?” that’s a talk for another time, we’ll definitely find him, for now, talking about this song made you remember him, which is the point of this post, reminding you of songs that makes you automatically remember the artiste, in fact, that the song is now their names. So where is Konga? Let’s find him after this post.

So let’s see who we have here;

5. Tongolo: You might not want to agree until you sing the chorus of this 2005 hit song, then you’ll realize that D’banj got to be Koko master the ultimate after this song with ladies yearning for the Koko… i didn’t conclude on that, listen to the song again, and finalize it. Tongolo is that sng that implied that D’banj’s has a koko prowess and of course we cannot forget how skillful he is with the harmonica serenading us all the way tot the beat of Tongolo.

4. Mr. Capable: If you were doubting Banky W’s capability all these while, his ability to keep his relationship with Nollywood sweetheart, Adesua Etomi off the world’s attention is enough to kill that doubt of yours, but that’s not the point here. Banky W’s Capable track has earned him the name Mr. Capable that he still bears till date. This 2008 albums was popular at the time, but the track is certainly not a song we will find on your daily playlist, except you’re Adesua. So yes, this song, although old will certainly make you remember Banky W, just as you will always want to call him the tile of the album when you see him.

3. Dami Duro: Since Davido released this song, he has defintely not allowed anybody stop him from releasing dancehall tracks as the OBO that he is. Yep, Ema da Davido Duro. So after this song, the name OBO stuck with Davido, as he reminds us in every song that he is the son of a billionaire with Taty billion for the akant or maybe even more. Dami Duro is one song we certainly can’t forget, because when you see Davido, you think of Omo Baba Olowo, meaning you automatically think of what song now? Ezakli!

2. Holla at your Boy: We don’t even need to see Wizkid to get by before we holla at Daddy yo! Yes, he’s no longer a boy, he’s now a father, so can we still “Holla”?  This song reminds us of Wizkid all the way, from how he started, making the memory all too beautiful when we look at where he is now making waves. This award winning track, plus most tracks in his Superstar album is one to remember Wizkid for. I know some of you are thinking “What of Ojuelegba?” Well, that’s a track for another Thursday, so let’s move on!

1. African Queen: Now this African music Don needs no introduction as the song title already told you who we are talking about. Tuface Idibia stole the hearts of Africans with this hit track that unlike many has not left the playlist of DJ’s as it is still being played at different occasions especially weddings and dinner events. This is one song that we can, once again, “unapologetically” say that it made Tuface who he is, and while they’re  lots of romour surrounding the origin of the song, we’ll love to just flow with what we know for a fact presently that African makes us remember Tubaba and how romantic he can be.

So that is all we can take for this Thursday, not because it is all we remember, but because it is what we want to take, and of course more songs will flow subsequently. But if you think your favorite artiste was not mentioned, please do mention them and don’t forget to tell us the song you remember him/her for.
